Kiddisave are proud sponsors of racing driver Dean Smith, who has had a sensational year. Smith has been awarded Britain’s Young Driver of the Year following in the wheeltracks of his sporting idols 2009 Formula One World Champion Jenson Button and 2008 World Champion Lewis Hamilton.

After winning this year’s Formula Renault UK Championship, Smith picked up the McLaren/Autosport BRDC award in a glittering ceremony last week at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London. He was presented the award by three Formula 1 world champions, namely Hamilton, Damon Hill and current F1 World Champion Jenson Button.

The West Midlands based driver has earned himself a test drive in a McLaren-Mercedes F1 car after lifting the prestigious award. In addition to the F1 test, the 21-year-old has received £50,000 and membership to the British Racing Drivers Club.

Smith has contested both days of the Formula Two test in Portimão, Portugal this past weekend. It was his maiden run in a Williams JPH1 F2 car, and he finished second overall during the final day in a highly impressive performance.

The Kiddisave-backed driver has set his sights on entering the GP3 Series category next year, which is a feeder category for GP2 before hoping to achieve his dream of competing in Formula One.
